CHENNAI: PMK youth wing president and Dharmapuri MP
Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday demanded that the
Tamil Nadu state government take over Bala Vidaya Mandir in Chennai, the way it had taken over Annamalai University in Chidambaram.
“The government should cancel the suspensions and transfers executed by the corrupt school administration and appoint a special officer to run the school and provide quality education without fleecing parents,” Anbumani said in a statement.
“While parents are protesting against a discriminatory fee structure, teachers are striking work to protest against the corruption in the administration,” he said.
He alleged that the school had become a commercial firm selling education for money. “The chief executive officer and principal voiced their support for the parents against corruption and maladministration of the management. Following this, the management suspended the CEO and transferred the principal. Since the teachers are on strike, education of students has been affected,” he said.
Referring to the additional fees for special coaching in the school, Anbumani alleged that it was not conducted by the school. “It is conducted by the family of school correspondent Ramana Prasad, and crores of rupees they collect thus go to his family,” he said.
“The CEO was suspended for exposing this,” he alleged.
The deeds of this school management to discriminate students on the basis of the fee structure was highly condemnable, he said.
